Another cool ratty with loads of personality and tons of stories to tell. The blade is marked John Nowill & Son and bear the brand logo also, namely two crossed keys. This company was founded circa 1700 in Sheffield, England by Thomas Nowill. It passed from one generation to the next until it was taken over by John Nowill. In 1840 his son William entered the business too, this 'Two shillings razor' was made prior to 1891.
This razor has had lots of use, that is clear to see! Regardless, it has much more to offer and it sharpened up very easily on the whetstones with one layer of tape, the shave was good and comfortable with a slightly longer stubble as one would expect from a 1/4 hollow or near wedge. We fitted the razor with some vintage scales from another razor, so it has loads of character. This one will keep you intrigued every time you wonder about the road it has travelled to your hands...
The razor weighs 48 grams and has a bevel angle of around 18 degrees.
The blade sits tight and centers near perfect in the donor scales, this is a nice and sturdy package with loads of charm at a good price, get ready to fall in love!
