Kamisori style razors
'Kamisori' means 'razor' in Japanese, basically meaning everything from cheap, plastic garbage to the most exclusive handmade razors and the entire lot in between. In shaving circles we generally refer to 'Kamisori's' as fixed blade razors with a solid handle rather than folding scales like regular straight razors. They come in various models, and generally have a left handed, right handed, or western (universal) grind on the blade. With left and right hand grinds, the two individual grinds (Ura and Omote) are on opposite sides, the Omote side has the deeper grind and is normally the side used against your face, but shavers use these in various ways, so don't feel restricted by sticking to 'rules' from the middle ages, do what works best for you!
