Maybe PA Patrys is a better title, this is a monster brush for a monster PA!  Patrys wood is another one of our beautiful indigenous timbers, for some reason it is not used a lot and not well known, but this piece of reclaimed wood came across my way and I am most certainly going to be hunting for more! It is grows in southern Tanzania, eastern Zims, Mozambique and in the Venda and Limpopo regions of Southern Africa.

The year rings are stacked tightly and very pleasing on the eye, the contours of the grain flows nicely with easy swoops and gradual bends. The timber got its local name 'Patrys hout' from the the bird species with the same name; 'Patrys' translates to 'Partridge' in English. We have over 20 species of Patrys in South Africa, and if you look at them it is easy to see why some clever old omie decided that 'Millettia stuhlmannii' should be renamed to 'Patryshout'

The brush is fitted with a big boy 28 mm boar knot, it stands 155 mm high with the knot set at 60 mm. The brush has a belly of 51 mm and a waist of 28 mm. The brush weighs a 128 grams and feels like a proper tool in one's hand, hardly like your average shaving brush!
