Mystery razor. It says GUN METAL on the tang and that is it! I have seen similar ones on offer before, and they were German made steel, but we do not know this for sure. What we do know is that this razor shaves great, and the money spent on it will be worth your while for sure, smooth, close, comfortable and glided along nicely. One of those razors where you go 'Meh' when you clean it up, but 'Ahem' when you let it slaughter some whiskers.
This razor weighs 34 grams and has a spine thickness of 4.5 mm, blade height of 14 mm, or around 1/2 that delivers a bevel angle of almost 18 degrees. The razor surprised me in an opposing way than the Eric Anton Berg shaved the same day, with this one I expected a result with a slightly longer stubble at the end of the shave, but it was much closer than anticipated! There are norms, but certainly no guarantees as to what you will experience with any razor untill the second you slide it down your cheeks. The bevel is nice and even and we honed it up with one layer of tape. From what we can tell the razor is in original vintage condition. Close the blade carefully as it tends to swing to the side when almost in fully closed position. It has some coarse jimping on the top and bottom of the tang, making this fairly nimble tool easy to drive.
The razor is shave ready and strops comfortably on hanging leather or a paddle.
*Vintage razors are priced according to model and availability, time spent cleaning and reconditioning and time/level of honing. Please enquire if you need additional work done to this razor prior to purchase. All straight razors will require a stropping on a leather strop before every use. Pics are unedited (detail) and provide a true image of the condition of the razor.
