The DE22 is an adjustable razor with that will suit folks that like a medium weight razor, it is made of aluminium and alloy, and weighs in at 84 grams, which is quite light for a fully adjustable razor. This razor also has a smooth bar on the one side, and a grooved bar on the opposite side, the difference in more noticable that one would imagine, so be sure to utilize this feature to your full benefit.
Adjustables are the one type razor that will cater for all your needs from being a teen with silky soft whishers to 'hardebaard' and right back to old toppie with a few hairs here and there.
The cap is removed by turning the handle anti-clockwise while gripping it on the golden ajustment dail. and is replaced by reversing this action. Once loaded with a blade one must be careful not to turn it past the 1 or 8 marks on the dail when doing adjuatments, as you will start to loosen/tighten the cap. That being said the dail does tighten up at both ends to give you a warning that you have reached the limit of the adjustment, and getting the hang of it is quick and easy.
The adjustability is via the dail that is turned clockwise and anti-clockwise, and it offers a pretty good range. I have used this razor quite a lot, and I loved the results I got by doing one pass on setting number 4, and then buffing the remainder of the stubble on 1, this resulted in a very close and comfortable shave.
As this is an entry level adjustable one cannot expect exact tolerances and top class finishing, but I must admit they are pretty good, the blade sits securely and the blade gap was even and uniform on all the razors I checked. The razor has ample slots at the bottom of the base to allow for good flow-through, like most safety razors one can complete every shave from A to Z without the need for a single rinse under a tap or in the basin. The handle has barberpole knurling and the grip is good, we also tested the model with the vertical pattern, but decided on this range as the grip felt quite a bit better to us.
The razor has a magnetized head that makes loading and changing of the blade easier. The easiest way to remove the blade is to hold the razor upright and remove the cap, then simply push down on the long end of the blade to have it pop up on the opposite end, now it can be gripped carefully and removed or replaced.
The razor stands 96 mm high, and is available in Gumetal and Matte Chrome finish.
