The Simmons Hardware Company was a hardware manufacturer based in St. Louis, USA with locations in six other states. The founder of the company was Edward C. Simmons, who started the company in 1874 and retired in 1898. The founder's son, George Welch Simmons, started working his way up through the company in 1901, with a salary of $20 a week for driving trucks to the St. Louis warehouse. In 1904, he became the general manager and then later the vice-president of all the warehouses. Simmons was a Distinguished Successful Americans of his Day in 1912. Their razors are well known for great shaves and loved by many, this razor was made prior to them starting to use the 'Keen Cutter' trademarked items.

This razor weighs 33 grams, the blade height is 5/8 ths, or around 16 mm high, it has a cutting edge of 65 mm, with a barber's notch point. This half hollow razor in its original vintage condition is shave ready. The bevel on the razor is nice and even and has little spine wear, we used one layer of tape on the spine when we sharpened it up.

*Vintage razors are priced according to model and availability, time spent cleaning and reconditioning and time/level of honing. Please enquire if you need additional work done to this razor prior to purchase. All straight razors will require a stropping on a leather strop before every use. Pics are unedited (detail) and provide a true image of the condition of the razor.
