The Joseph Elliot company was manufacturing straight razors as far back as 1790. They were world renowned for the quality and workmanship of their razors. There are lots of discussions around this maker and their blades, and they would certainly be in the top ten makers of any razor aficionado. This is a great example of an earlier age razor that has remained in great shape because it was looked after properly.
The razor is 100% original with blade, scales and pinning as you would receive it from the shops, coffin & all... it is quite a looker me thinks! I loved the shave this blade presented, stteady, accurate and silent... just like a sniper.
The razor weighs 50 grams, the sharpened section of the edge is around 70 mm long, and the blade is 19 mm high (6/8). The blade has been made free of contamination and shined up a bit, the stamping is nice and deep allowing for buffing till kingdom come if you want razors to prance with prodigious bling.
*Vintage razors are priced according to model and availability, time spent cleaning and reconditioning and time/level of honing. Please enquire if you need additional work done to this razor prior to purchase. All straight razors will require a stropping on a leather strop before every use.
