Time for a rare one!

George Walker started Walker & Hall in 1845 when he secured the royalty for electroplating at Sheffield. He was joined by Henry Hall and the business became Walker & Hall in 1853 with a factory at Howard Street, Sheffield and showrooms at 45 Holborn Viaduct, London. Branches were later opened throughout Great Britain and worldwide. Walker & Hall became a limited liability company Walker & Hall Ltd in 1920. In 1963 became British Silverware Ltd amalgamating with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co. Walker and Hall Sheffield were primarily Sheffield Makers, but items with Birmingham, London and Chester Assay Marks can also be found. They were primarily manufacturers of cutlery, and there are very few of these floating around, in fact, this is the only safety razor I couldn find on the internet with only the odd straight razor here and there.

This safety razor should be pre 1900 as it does not use a disposable blade. The blade has the profile of a shortened straight razor blade and is periodically sharpened in a similar fashion. Everything works on it as it should, and it shaves arm hair in a jiff. We have sharpened the blade but have not test shaved it yet, feel free to ask me to do so if you want to make sure it is comfortable enough to use on a more regular basis rather than it simply becoming a showpiece.

The razor stands 91 mm high and weighs 36 grams.
