This 5/8 razor is one of those that has that epic full blown old school look, the scales were shot so we fitted African blackwood scales that are solid and heavy. We stripped it, removed all rust and then blued the blade back up to give it that old, but looked after appearance. We pinned it with brass to add a bit of bling, make it look neat and match nicely with the bit of sapwood on the one scale. This one made it back from a very poor state, and her character is showing. It is not really worth it 'moneywise' to restore a razor from such a state, but holding it upon completion is just award.
The razor strops quickly and easily on both the paddle and hanging strops. The test shave was on par with it's looks, comfortable and smooth, and the result was a closer shave than I anticipated from this grind, a very nice razor to own for your everyday guy looking for something cool.
The blade has the inscription Kings Crown Razor, Extra Hollow Ground on the blade. Kings Crown were a well know German razor manufacturer founded in 1774 by the Weyersberg family & the company still continues making razors today. The razor is shave ready.

The rounded point razor blade is a 5/8 in height and has a cutting edge of around 68 mm long and a weight of 50 grams. The spine is 4 mm thick with no ugly spine wear. The dimensions results in a bevel angle just over 14 degrees.
This is one of those razors that will spook with you untill it is sold, classic stuff!
