This Whacker has Mpingo scales with a slice of Kudu horn bone as a wedge, delivering a blade that smacks of Africa, its crude, primitive looking steel supports its dark personality. The blade is pinned with nickel rods and stainless steel washers. The blade is made from 52100 steel and delivered one of the best shaves I have ever had using a near wedge blade, the closeness of the shave blew me away, much, much closer than I expected from this type of grind. The apex was finished on a 'Die Einde' natural stone and stropped on sealskin, this was done with three layers of tape on the spine The blade has a bold, even bevel and sharpens easily on the stones.
The blade has a height of 25 mm and the razor weighs 100 grams, it has a near wedge grind with a spine thickness of 6 mm that delivers a bevel angle of around 14 degrees (around 17 degrees with the tape)
The Bundu Whacker is range of razors that are meant to be less refined and affordable, but still unique and made by hand, as with many new product lines, cost to customer was the biggest criteria. Time spent making these razors is the single biggest cost factor, and they are priced accordingly
